Seit dem 11. September hat sich die Politik der meisten westlichen Industrienationen dramatisch geändert, allen voran die der USA. Durch den 11. September sind Einschnitte in die Rechte der Bürger möglich geworden, die wir uns vorher nicht einmal hätten träumen lassen. Und zwar nicht nur in Amerika, sondern auch bei uns in Deutschland.
Immer noch wird 9/11 (die amerikanische Schreibweise für den 11. September) als Propaganda für die kriegerischen Abenteuer der amtierenden US-Administration ausgeschlachtet. Gerade erst wieder sind Tonbänder der Opfer und Bilder vom angeblichen Pentagon-Einschlag einer Passagiermaschine veröffentlicht worden und übertönen damit die zunehmende Skepsis der Bevölkerung an der offiziellen Version, nach der eine Handvoll mit Teppichmessern bewaffneter Terroristen nicht nur die verschiedenen amerikanischen Geheimdienste mit einem Etat von zig Milliarden Dollar, sondern gleich auch noch die gesamte nordamerikanische Luftabwehr (NORAD) ausgeschaltet haben sollen.

No one needs reminding of the terrible tragedy that befell the world on September 11th, 2001. The attacks themselves were a tragedy; however, nearly five years later we are still suffering from the aftermath in one form or another. Toxic dust from 9/11 is still one of the key health issues connected to that horrible day.

When the World Trade Center Towers and other buildings collapsed, huge amounts of dust were forced into the air and eventually came to rest on the ground and in several other areas. Some of the neighboring, surviving buildings reported dust piles of up to three feet in height. The EPA claimed to do a thorough round of tests and found that yes there were toxins in the dust but the amounts were not at a dangerous level.

WTC: Danger of Asbestos Fallout

After the WTC has been blown to pieces, questions about short- and long-term health effects of the explosion must be asked. Health effects of asbestos can include asbestosis, lung cancer and other diseases, depending on the concentration. How much asbestos was in the WTC? Which health effects will it cause, now that it is all over New York City?

The asbestos fiber was a common protection against fire and heat in many products, especially building components, until its heavily toxic effects became known. The American Lung Association warns that "if asbestos should become airborne and is inhaled, it can remain in the lungs for a long period of time, producing the risk for severe health problems several years later". The incubation time can last up to 30 years. Health effects can include asbestosis, lung cancer and other diseases, depending on the concentration. How much asbestos was in the WTC? Which health effects will it cause, now that it is all over New York City?

Asbestos and 9/11

The day the World Trade Center fell September 11, 2001, most New Yorkers and others around the world weren't thinking about what would be left on the ground and in the air when the fires stopped and the smoke cleared. As caring human beings, most of us were more concerned with the lives lost and families torn apart by this senseless act of terror.

However, when the rescue mission ended and the recovery efforts began, people stopped to ponder just what remained of the two massive towers. While it was commonplace to find millions of pieces of paper, glass, steel, and other tangible items lying around Lower Manhattan, what people weren't "seeing" with their eyes was actually more dangerous than any chunk of steel or broken window pane would ever be.

When the World Trade Center burned and fell, an enormous amount of a variety of toxins were released into the air. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says the dust that blanketed Manhattan was composed mainly of "ground up construction materials, including concrete, glass, fiberglass and some asbestos." Others say, however, that the dust also included fiberglass, pulverized concrete, lead, mercury, cadmium, dioxins, and PCB's.

Inhalation of these particles was likely to cause health concerns for everyone in the vicinity, whether a rescue worker or a resident who lived under the ever-present cloud of dust during the weeks it took the fires to burn themselves out. Some health risks would be short term while others could carry effects far into the future.

FPF - 4 September 2007 - A majority of the Americans - 52% - now understands the controlled demolition of the World Trade Center buildings in New York on 9/11 in 2001 was an 'inside job' by the US junta. But the massacre by the evildoers is much bigger than the three thousand people which the US junta killed that ominous day. Asbestos poisoning will kill many more: 9/11 is a bigger tragedy than many think. And worse than a lot of people can imagine or dare say.

On Febr. 22nd in 2005, Robert Scheer in the Los Angeles Times had an article* about the so called 'Tort reform', the illegal fabrication of laws in such a way that the Bush administration and it's ruling multinationals could severely limit the amount of the $billion damages that in the future could be collected by those harmed by asbestos exposure. The article was called "Of, by and for Big Business", and in 689 words Scheer explained how the people in the US permanently are screwed by the multinationals. The LA Times as the majority of the media will not complain much more: it has also been bought by 'them', the evildoers, and is thus silenced.

"It was well-known by the city of New York that the WTC was an asbestos bombshell. For years, the Port Authority treated the building like an aging dinosaur, attempting on several occasions to get permits to demolish the building for liability reasons, but being turned down due the known asbestos problem. Further, it was well-known the only reason the building was still standing until 9/11 was because it was too costly to disassemble the twin towers floor by floor since the Port Authority was prohibited legally from demolishing the buildings." But Larry Silverstein and the other criminals got richer."* Many have seen him on TV saying they 'pulled' WTC7, building #3.

The asbestos drama has a face though, as also is shown in Franklin's story below, because a week ago - according to a TV item in the New York Times* - called "Asbestos, Hidden in Plain Sight", the story is told about Libby, Montana. Reporter Hale: ''Libby, Montana" sets a high bar for itself. An opening voice-over, covering idyllic home-movie scenes of life in the West, proclaims: Either this is the most horrific story I've ever heard in my life, or those people are completely crazy. It couldn't have happened." But it did, like 9/11, and the people are suffering and dying.
