Diese erschreckende Meldung hoerte ich neulich im Radio. Ich wollte es gar nicht glauben und habe nach genaueren Zahlen etwas recherchiert. In den letzten 8 Jahren starben schaetzungsweise 12.000 Kinder durch Missbrauch und Vernachlaessigung. Im Vergleich dazu kostete der Einsatz in Irak und Afghanistan bisher 6.340 US-Soldaten das Leben.

Die Zukunft der USA /2012-2016 : zahlungsunfähig und unregierbar
In dieser 60. Ausgabe des GEAB stellen wir unsere Vorhersagen über die Zukunft der USA für die Jahre 2012-2016 vor. Wir erinnern daran, dass wir seit 2006 und den ersten Ausgaben des GEAB die umfassende weltweite Krise als Prozess des Zerfalls der Nachkriegsweltordnung beschrieben haben; ihr seit siebzig Jahren tragender Pfeiler, die USA, bricht zusammen. Schon seit 2006 sagten wir voraus, dass in den Jahren 2011-2013 die Dollarmauer, auf der sich die US-Macht der USA gründet, einstürzen werde. Im Sommer 2011 vollzog sich mit der Herabstufung der US-Bonitätsnote durch die Rating-Agentur S&P eine Zeitenwende; von da an wurde das „Unmögliche“ (28) möglich. Wir denken, es ist heute angesichts einer Krise, die seit dem Sommer 2011 in einen höheren Gang geschalten hat, für unsere Leser wichtig, einen Ausblick auf die Zukunft des Landes zu erhalten, das bis vor der Krise das mächtigste Land der Welt war (29).

Wir gehen davon aus, dass mit dem Wahljahr 2012, vor dem Hintergrund einer sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Depression, der Lähmung des politischen Systems auf Bundesebene (30), des wachsenden Misstrauens der Wähler gegen die beiden abwechselnd herrschenden Parteien, der neuen Zweifel, ob die Verfassung noch ausreichend Funktionsregeln für einen Staat in einer modernen Welt bieten kann, die Vereinigten Staaten in eine Epoche eintreten, in der sich die Zukunft des Landes für viele, viele Jahre entscheiden wird. In den folgenden vier Jahren wird das Land politischen, wirtschaftlichen, finanziellen und sozialen Belastungen und Spannungen ausgesetzt sein wie nie seit Ende des amerikanischen Bürgerkriegs, der, geschichtlicher Zufall, vor ziemlich genau 150 Jahren, nämlich 1861, begonnen hat. In den nächsten vier Jahren werden die USA zahlungsunfähig und unregierbar sein. Das einstige Flaggschiff der Weltordnung wird zum manöverierunfähigen Seelenverkäufer.

Um den komplexen Prozess des Zerfalls der ehemaligen Weltmacht verständlich darzustellen, gliedern wir die Präsentation in drei große Bereiche :

Die Lähmung der staatlichen Institutionen und der Zerfall des traditionellen Zweiparteiensystems
Die wirtschaftliche Todesspirale : Rezession/Depression/Inflation
Die Auflösung der Gesellschaftsstruktur

Die USA beenden das Jahr 2011 in einem Zustand der Schwäche wie nie seit dem Bürgerkrieg. Auf der internationalen Bühne habe sie ihre Führungsrolle eingebüßt. Die Spannungen zwischen den Blöcken nehmen zu und die USA sind an fast allen Streitigkeiten beteiligt: China, Russland, Brasilien (eigentlich mit allen Ländern Süd-Amerikas) und nunmehr auch Euroland (31). Gleichzeitig verbessert sich die Lage auf dem US-Arbeitsmarkt, auf dem die reelle Arbeitslosigkeit bei 20% liegt, kaum, obwohl die Zahl der aktiven Personen in der Bevölkerung stetig und wie noch nie zuvor zurückgeht; sie ist nunmehr auf den Stand von 2001 gefallen (32).

Die Preise für Immobilien, die zusammen mit Aktienbesitz den Hauptteil des Reichtums der US-Privathaushalte bilden, gehen trotz der verzweifelten Versuche der Fed (33), mit zinslosen Krediten die Wirtschaft anzukurbeln, Jahr für Jahr weiter zurück. In den Bilanzen der amerikanischen Banken stehen weitaus mehr zweifelhafte Finanzderivate als in denen der europäischen (34). Es besteht die konkrete Gefahr, dass einige von ihnen bald zahlungsunfähig werden; der Bankrott von MF Global ist insofern ein Vorzeichen für das, was kommen könnte, und hat wieder einmal gezeigt, dass drei Jahre nach dem Beinahe-Absturz der Wall Street Finanzaufsicht dort ein rein theoretisches Konzept bleibt (35).

Mit jedem Tag nimmt die Armut in den USA zu. Inzwischen ist jeder sechste Amerikaner auf den Bezug von Lebensmittelkarten (36) angewiesen und jedes fünfte Kind war schon einmal Opfer von Obdachlosigkeit (37). Die öffentliche Daseinsvorsorge (Bildung, Soziales, Polizei, Straßen) wurde quer durch das Land eingeschränkt, da die Staaten, Kreise und Gemeinden sie nicht mehr bezahlen können. Die Unterstützung, die die die Proteste der Mittelklasse und der Jungen, also TP und OWS, laut Meinungsumfragen bei vielen Amerikanern gefunden haben, ist die unmittelbare Folge der Tatsache, dass die überwiegende Mehrheit der Amerikaner in ihrem täglichen Leben mit den realen Protestgründen konfrontiert werden. Diese Trends werden sich in den kommenden Jahren verstärken.

Der Schwächezustand der US-Wirtschaft und – Gesellschaft ist paradoxerweise das Ergebnis der 2009/2010 durchgeführten Rettungsversuche (Konjunkturprogramme, QE) sowie der Verschärfung einer allgemeinen Lage, die schon vor dem Ausbruch der Krise alles andere als rosig war. 2012 wird das erste Jahr sein, in der die Situation sich von einem bereits sehr schlechten Niveau aus noch einmal verschlechtern wird (38).

Die kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen, die Kreise, Städte und Gemeinden (39), die öffentlichen Unternehmen der Daseinsvorsorge usw. verfügen über keine Finanzreserven mehr, die sie durch die neue Rezessionsphase bringen könnten (40). Wir hatten vorhergesagt, dass 2012 der Wert des Dollars im Vergleich zu den anderen großen Weltwährungen um 30% fallen werde. Da die USA fast alle Konsumgüter einführen, bedeutet dies einen unmittelbaren Kaufkraftverfall in der gleichen Größenordnung. Gleichzeitig wird die Kaufkraft durch eine Inflation im zweistelligen Bereich weiter geschwächt.

TP und OWS haben also ihre besten Tage noch vor sich. Denn die Wut des Jahres 2011 wird sich 2012/2013 in rasenden Zorn wandeln...

Obwohl die meisten US-Amerikaner sehr frustriert über unsere Wirtschaft sind, hat die große Mehrheit von ihnen keine Vorstellung davon, wie weit der wirtschaftliche Nieder- gang der USA schon fortgeschritten ist und in welche Schwierigkeiten wir geraten werden, wenn wir nicht sofort dramatische Änderungen herbeiführen. Weil die USA viel mehr konsumieren als produzieren, ist unsere Verschuldung geradezu explodiert. Wenn wir so weitermachen wie bisher, ist unser wirtschaftlicher Zusammenbruch unvermeidlich. Ich hoffe darauf, dass die verrückten wirtschaftlichen Daten aus dem Jahr 2011, die ich in diesem Artikel aufzäh- le, viele Menschen so erschüttern werden, dass sie endlich aufwachen...

Many Americans gave up hope last year – 2012 will be worse

Joseph Stiglitz comments on the recent woes of the U.S. economy, which came as a rude awakening for the apostles of the "American dream." It is thanks to the special status of the dollar that Washington still enjoys an authority disproportionate to its objective economic capacities. So far, the U.S. military managed to deter any challenge to this privileged status. Nevertheless their position is eroding, both morally and militarily, in the face of emerging powers. Accordingly, the double veto by Russia and China on 4 February rang like a wake-up call back to reality. A rebalancing is inevitable, and it is the geopolitical impact of this economic readjustment that we have to brace for in 2012, according to the Nobel Prize in economics.

And so what’s happening is that instead of dealing with the issues the government is going to be much more aggressive to tax people, chase them down, and put them in prison. All kinds of crazy stuff. This new act that came in December 19th—effectively they are telling any foreign corporation that they must report any activity with an American overseas. And what they’re going to do to them is what they did to UBS. If they don’t comply, they will confiscate all their assets here. So, honestly, from an international perspective, the best advice I could tell people is to get out. If you’re going to do business in the United States, use an agent. Get your branches out of this country. It’s going to get far worse."

"This is exactly how Rome collapsed. There was a Roman Emperor, Maximinus in 238 [AD], he simply declared all wealth in the Roman Empire to be his. That’s it. And, what happened, is that, and what you’re going to see over the next few years, as you attack the rich, as the Romans did, what happens is that, somebody now hoards their money. They no longer invest it, they hide it, and they don’t keep it in banks. And consequently, that reduces the velocity of money. And as it reduces the velocity that is what creates the economic decline. So that interest rates, even during the Great Depression, fell to 1%, nobody would borrow because they didn’t see an opportunity to make money. And every possible mistake that every government has made before us, we are following step by step."

Big Sis Hires Hundreds Of Security Guards To Protect Government Buildings

The Department of Homeland Security has hired hundreds of security guards to protect scores of government buildings across the country as the federal agency prepares for terror threats and potential civil disorder in the United States.

“One company, Vendtech-SGI, LLC, of McLean, VA, landed a contract worth more than $311.5 million to provide about 600 guards to protect approximately 200 different posts at more than 130 separate buildings in the states of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska, according to a DHS notice posted online on Feb. 14,” reports GSN.
Master Security Company, LLC, of Hunt Valley, MD, was also awarded a $43.1 million contract to guard two facilities in Suitland, MD, and one each in Seabrook and Camp Springs, MD.
The contracts were awarded by the DHS’ Federal Protective Service, which is tasked with securing over 9,000 federally owned and leased buildings. The FPS also stoked controversy last month when it posted agents armed with semiautomatic guns at a Social Security office in Florida.
The armed agents checked identifications of locals as part of Operation Shield, an unannounced drill centered around “detecting the presence of unauthorized persons and potentially disruptive or dangerous activities.”
The Federal Protective Service has also been used by the DHS to track the political activities of peaceful advocacy groups.
The newly hired security guards will provide “a mix of fixed and roving posts assignments, providing interior and exterior coverage, with some posts requiring 24/7 coverage,” according to the DHS....

NDAA Nullification Passes Virginia Senate by a Veto-Proof 39-1 Vote

Today, the Virginia Senate took a firm stand in support of liberty, the Constitution for the United States, and the Constitution of Virginia by voting in favor of House Bill 1160 (HB1160), the “NDAA Nullification Act.”

The final vote was 39-1.

After a motion to recommit (delay until next year) went down to the wire before being rejected yesterday (report here), groups across the political spectrum activated in support of the legislation, which codifies in law that no agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia – including defense forces and national guard troops, will comply with or assist the federal government in any way under it’s newly claimed powers to arrest and detain without due process.

INTERNMENT: NEVER AGAIN

The bill’s primary sponsor, Delegate Bob Marshall, had this to say in support:
“During World War II, the federal government incarcerated tens of thousands of loyal Japanese Americans in the name of national security. By this bill, Virginia declares that it will not participate in similar modern-day efforts.
Even President Obama had questions about the bill, when he promised the American people that he would not use the unrestrained powers it granted him — but why should we trust any President with such powers?
