Das Schlagwort „new age“ wurde erstmals 1804 von William Blake verwendet (noch nicht in dem Sinn, wie es später populär wurde). Eine gewisse Verbreitung fand es später durch die theosophischen Schriften von Alice Bailey. Allgemein bekannt wurde es jedoch erst um 1970 im Umfeld der kalifornischen Hippie-Bewegung. In diesem Zusammenhang war es zunächst etwa synonym mit „Wassermannzeitalter“; die damit verbundenen astrologischen Vorstellungen traten jedoch sehr schnell in den Hintergrund.

The Georgia Guidestones

On one of the highest hilltops in Elbert County, Georgia stands a huge granite monument. Engraved in eight different languages on the four giant stones that support the common capstone are 10 Guides, or commandments. That monument is alternately referred to as The Georgia Guidestones, or the American Stonehenge. Though relatively unknown to most people, it is an important link to the Occult Hierarchy that dominates the world in which we live.
The origin of that strange monument is shrouded in mystery because no one knows the true identity of the man, or men, who commissioned its construction. All that is known for certain is that in June 1979, a well-dressed, articulate stranger visited the office of the Elberton Granite Finishing Company and announced that he wanted to build an edifice to transmit a message to mankind. He identified himself as R. C. Christian, but it soon became apparent that was not his real name. He said that he represented a group of men who wanted to offer direction to humanity, but to date, almost two decades later, no one knows who R. C. Christian really was, or the names of those he represented. Several things are apparent. The messages engraved on the Georgia Guidestones deal with four major fields: (1) Governance and the establishment of a world government, (2) Population and reproduction control, (3) The environment and man's relationship to nature, and (4) Spirituality.

Aleister Crowley  (* 12. Oktober 1875 in Leamington Spa, England; † 1. Dezember 1947 in Hastings, East Sussex; eigentlich Edward Alexander Crowley), war ein Okkultist, Kabbalist, Magier, Mystiker, Poet und Verleger.
Bereits in jungen Jahren war Crowley als ausgezeichneter Bergsteiger anerkannt. Die Teilnahme an diversen Expeditionen und zahlreiche Reisen führten ihn an viele Orte der Welt.
Zunächst Mitglied im Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn (Hermetischer Orden der goldenen Morgenröte), leitete Crowley darauf den Ordo Templi Orientis und den von ihm gegründeten Orden Astrum Argenteum. Seinem Buch Liber AL vel Legis (Buch des Gesetzes) folgend, begründete er das philosophisch-religiöse System Thelema.

In seinem magischen System verband Crowley östliche und westliche Einflüsse. Seine kabbalistischen und magischen Schriften sind eine Mischung aus jüdisch-christlicher Kabbala in der Tradition des Golden Dawn mit seinem Buch des Gesetzes. Das Buch des Gesetzes möchte alle Religionen hinter sich lassen und wendet sich insbesondere gegen das Christentum seiner damaligen Zeit. So nannte er sich in Anlehnung an die biblische Apokalypse in der Offenbarung des Johannes: „The Great Beast 666“. Er erfand zahlreiche „tantrische“ Rituale. Einer der zentralen Sätze seiner religiösen Anschauungen ist der Sinnspruch: „Tu, was du willst, soll sein das ganze Gesetz. Liebe ist das Gesetz, Liebe unter Willen.“ Dabei legte Crowley Wert darauf, dass der Mensch zuerst erforschen müsse, worin dieser eigene Wille überhaupt bestehe, um dieses gewollte Handeln ausführen zu können. Der Satz besagt nicht, wie von seinen Gegnern oft unterstellt: „Tue, worauf immer du Lust hast, ist das ganze Gesetz.“ Crowleys „Thelema“-Konzept zielt auf die Verwirklichung des wahren spirituellen Willens des Menschen und ist kein Freibrief für Hedonismus.

Crowleys Einfluss ist in der esoterischen und zum Teil in der New-Age-Bewegung erkennbar. Am bekanntesten sind die von ihm in den 1940er Jahren zusammen mit der Malerin Lady Frieda Harris geschaffenen und 1944 als Das Buch Toth veröffentlichten Tarot-Karten. Heute ein für seine Symbolvielfalt gelobtes Tarot-Deck.
Durch die 68er-Bewegung und die esoterischen Ansprüche der Hippie-Bewegung erhielten auch die Werke von Crowley neue Aufmerksamkeit. Unter anderem von Bands wie Black Sabbath oder Led Zeppelin ist bekannt, dass sich zumindest einige Mitglieder mit seinen Schriften beschäftigten.
In der 1975 erschienenen Illuminatus!-Trilogie verarbeiteten die Autoren Robert Anton Wilson und Robert Shea satirisch Versatzstücke von Crowleys esoterischem Wirken.

Lucifer Publishing formed in 1922. It was and IS TODAY the publisher for the United Nations. They changed the name to Lucis Trust when it raised suspicions. They named the company after their god. They have a radio station called Lucis Trust and a website where they will teach you the 'Esoteric meaning of Lucifer'. They have said the end is going to be their religion against us- Christians. They choose to believe satan's fall was a "sacrifice" and he was from Venus. They are being deceived by Satan who is lying to them GREATLY. Some of the people fighting the NWO are actually helping through this religion. Jordan Maxwell, you will find out plays a BIG part in this religion-he gets defensive when you point out the connection. He is blinded by the spirits involved. Zeitgeist's Peter Joseph is also in this religion and is having a Z day in March for Venus but he talks about the NWO in his films. He too gets very defensive when you connect his religion and the NWO.

Die New Age Bewegung kann jedoch als Maneuver gesehen werden, dem startenden Erwachen der Massen hin zu den Fakten bzw. der Wahrheit vorzubeugen. Deshalb wurde das geistige Erwachen durch ‚Schlafmedikamente‘ namens „du erzeugst deine eigene Realität“, „automatischer planetarischer Aufstieg“, „Rettung durch hochentwickelte Zivilisationen“, etc. bekämpft. Die meisten dieser Ideen haben tatsächlich eine wahre Basis, um den suchenden Geist der Massen zufrieden zu stellen. Manche wurden aber bis zur Unkenntlichkeit aus ihrem Zusammenhang gerissen.

Die dabei verwendeten plausiblen Lügen sind wegen ihrem wahren Kern besonders für jene schwer erkennbar und nachvollziehbar, die nicht über hinreichend Wissen verfügen, wie die objektive Welt funktioniert, oder denen das Konzept des Freien Willens (eigene Entscheidungsmöglichkeit, offene Zukunft, kein unbeugsames Schicksal, etc.) unbekannt ist.

So kam es, dass der Großteil der New Age-Inhalte lediglich eine Übung im Wunschdenken sind; oder, wie Gurdjieff sagte: „vom Aufwachen zu träumen“.
