In Tokio hat eine Antiatomgruppe erklärt, sie habe die nötigen Stimmen gesammelt, um ein Referendum über die weitere Verwendung von Atomstrom durchführen zu können. Die Gruppe mit dem komplizierten Namen Minna de Kimeyo Genpatsu Kokumin Tohyo (Lasst jeden an einem Referendum zur Entscheidung über die Atomkraft teilnehmen) erklärte am Mittwoch, man habe bis 260.094 Unterschriften gesammelt und gezählt, erforderlich sind nur 214.236, ein Fünfzigstel der Gesamtbürgerschaft.

Die Gruppe hatte zwar eine Zahl von 300.000 angestrebt, es seien aber noch um die 40.000 ungezählt, so dass man das Ziel vielleicht doch erreichen könnte, auch wenn davon 15.000, wie die Gruppe schätzt, ungültig sein können.
